TODAY I LEARNED

NMEA is not a dirty word

The IT Sailor is a new section on our website designed to leverage my 30+ years of experience to help others understand how their boat technology works.

One of the first things to understand is NMEA and today I’ve learnt it’s not such a hard thing to understand.

There is a Whitepaper that helps explain it called Whitepaper – NMEA Networks simplified that will also help you identify what type of connectors your boat network uses and therefore how you can add things to it.

Understanding NMEA is not something we MUST know to sail, but it is something we SHOULD understand if we want to get the best out of our Sailing IT.
