TODAY I LEARNED

Remember to zoom in on your forecast.

If you are using something like a subscription to Predictwind or Windy you will be getting some forecasts, like ECMWF in high definition at 8km rather than 25km or larger.

This can mean that zooming into your forecast is just as important as zooming into your Chart to get the real detail of the coming weather.

Just recently we had this fact highlighted to us when the ECMWF forecast was showing thunderstorm winds and the GFS, at a lower resolution, was NOT.

BUT EVEN MORE IMPORTANTLY, when we zoomed in we found the forecast showed it missing our anchorage. Now we took that with a grain of salt like a good sailor, but it did prove accurate and our preparation for the “Weather Bomb” we expected , were just that preparations.

Zooming into the forecast can be very worthwhile.
