when sailing more than 24hours, Connie and I prefer a 4 hour shift pattern.
We both stay awake until 8pm and then the first one, usually myself, sleeps for 4 hours. At 12pm (Midnight) I relieve Connie and we swap places, after a brief catch up with whats around us and what’s been happening.
Then again at 4am, we swap back again and then again at 8am. From 8am I stay awake for the rest of the day and I am joined by Connie at around midday for the afternoon.
Then we start it all over again. This works very well for us and can even be used with bigger crews for longer passages, we intend to use the below schedule for our upcoming Atlantic crossing with three of us.
