I’ve always said that an anchor buoy is not worth the trouble.
I’ve seen sailors get them tangled up in the anchor chain, other sailors use them as mooring balls and pull up the anchor and even get them caught in the propellor.
So are they worth the trouble?
I think the answer is yes, especially if you are in rocky terrain and likely to need the anchor recovered.
So if you attached them to the anchor recovery point they just might be. Plus if you use a few tricks you can avoid many of the pitfalls.
