Do you need the main overnight?

Sailing shorthanded the mainsail is a handful and if reaching downwind not always needed.

Consider the worth of keeping the mainsail up during the night and/or replacing it with a bigger foresail (Asymmetric is easier to cope with single handed than a main that is being pressed).

Dropping the main can often make sense.
