TODAY I LEARNED

Anchoring uphill improves your chances….

So the seabed is like the land (bed) in that it has hills, flats and slopes. In particular where it tends to meet the land.

A seamount also qualifies though as does a gradual change in depth.

If you are able to anchor with your anchor pulling “up the hill” provided by the slope of the seabed you’ll find you get a better set and more importantly a better reset.

I have used this to our advantage when we have known that the wind will come up during the night from a certain direction, making sure we set so that any reset pulls us “up hill”.

Try it, you’ll be impressed.
