A Handy tool for Golf can be a handy tool for sailors

I have often said that Radar is a great tool, and often that is because its so good at giving you accurate ranges to other boats or land etc at close range.

But what if you don’t have Radar? its quite an investment both in money and in effort to install.

Well it turns out cheap Golf range finders are brilliant for giving you a range to a target, a boat whilst anchoring, a dock or land whilst entering a harbour etc.

If you don’t have Radar perhaps a Lazer Range finder might give you the confidence in range you need to check charts, check drift, check anchoring distance etc.

Simple is often best.

  1. I have been thinking of getting one of these as I am terrible of judging distances. What make and model?
