TODAY I LEARNED

Always check the local weather forecast.

Marine weather apps like Windy or Predict wind are great and usually quite accurate, but they DON’T SHOW local short lived forecasts like thunderstorms.

But local Non-marine forecast apps do show a reliable prediction of wind patterns and sea level gusts.

You need both.

We have been saved a number of times because of thunderstorm forecasting high winds on local forecast apps like Accuweather or even just the apple weather app and Lightening strike apps. Where the main marine forecast apps did not show these high winds.

Being prepared means using all the forecasting you can get. Always check the local forecast apps for local aberrations such as thunderstorms or katabatic winds.
