On longer journeys always remember to pull the drain plug out of your dinghy so it can’t grow heavier as the passage goes on with rain or following seas.

We have had our own Dinghy literally half fill with sea water from a following wave, the same one managed to fill the cockpit of Waiata. But with the plug pulled it was drained out again in only a few minutes.

Oh, if you forget to remove it before you depart, your boat hook is your friend, don’t go climbing into a hanging dinghy over deep water :-).
