TODAY I LEARNED

NMEA data can be anything!!

I have a rather sophisticated LifePo4 battery system on our boat with a large solar array and its all managed by a very smart BMS and Victron componentry.

I discovered the other day that I could, with a home made cable, plug all the data from my Victron Cerbo GX directly into the NMEA network on the boat.

Doing so, meant that all the data about my battery system and chargers, solar and otherwise, was now available to anything that linked into the NMEA, which includes the MFD (B&G in my case).

This meant that when I get my tank information, linked to the Cerbo, this too will then be available for me to check at the helm.

Gotta love technology when it works for you and together.
